Getting Started
There's no single magic age — but there is a right kind of class for each stage of childhood. Here's how to think about it.
It's one of the most common questions we hear from parents: "Is my child old enough to start?" The honest answer is that children of almost any age benefit from moving — but the way a class should be structured changes a lot as they grow. Matching the class to the stage matters far more than hitting a specific birthday.
This is the sweet spot for starting structured movement. Children in this window are developing the fundamental motor skills — balance, coordination, spatial awareness, rhythm — that underpin every physical activity they'll ever do. The goal at this age isn't technique or performance; it's confidence, play, and a positive relationship with their own body.
Our Junior Academy is built for exactly this: creative dance, movement games, beginner floor work and a gentle introduction to aerial and balance, all in a supportive, pressure-free environment.
Tweens are ready to explore. They can handle more complex sequences, start to understand their own strength, and crave activities that feel like theirs rather than something arranged for them. This is the age to broaden the toolkit — dance, aerial and conditioning together — while building genuine strength and self-expression. That's the focus of Tween Exploration.
Teens who are committed can train seriously. At this stage the body can take on real technical work, and motivated young movers thrive when they're given proper goals and standards. Teen Elite Lab is designed for that — serious technique, strength and performance across the movement arts.
That's completely fine — and far more common than you'd think. Every one of our programs is beginner-friendly and built to meet children where they are. A nervous, never-tried-it 12-year-old and a confident one both have a place; the class adapts to the child, not the other way around.
It's whether your child feels safe, included and a little bit excited. A child who looks forward to class will keep showing up — and consistency, far more than an early start, is what builds coordination, confidence and a lifelong love of movement.
There's no single best age. Ages 6–10 is ideal for building fundamental movement skills through play, but children can start beneficially at any age — the key is choosing a class structured for their stage rather than waiting for a specific birthday.
